![]() The formula for these drivers is Vref = ( I * 2.5 ) / Imax Each type of stepper motor drivers has its own formula to calculate the required Vref to get a specific current. It helps us setting the current output of the stepper motor driver.ĭifferent 3D printer mainboards use different stepper motor drivers. The Vref value is a voltage reference measured in VDC that can be read using a multimeter. To determine that current we rely on the Vref value. It is very hard to read the current being fed to stepper motors. Download the stepper motor Technical Data Sheet here.Max temperature at this environment temperature can go up to 130☌ on account of the self heating. To use the LGX, run the stepper motor with currents between ~0.45 and ~0.65A:īe vigilant regarding the stepper motor surface temperature.Download the LGX Technical Drawings here.Max Environment operating temperature : 70☌.retraction distance (direct drive) for soft materials : 3 mm.retraction distance (direct drive) for rigid materials : 0.4 mm.retraction distance (bowden) : ~5 mm (0.4 + tube length x 0.15).Slight chamfer inside is recommended, but not mandatory.PTFE tube should be cut straight on both ends.e-steps value recommended for the LGX is 400.stepper motor is a 1.8 degrees motor hence 200 as full steps per rotation. The above calculation assumes the following parameters: rotation_distance = 200 * 16 / 400 rotation_distance = 8.rotation_distance = full_steps_per_rotation * microsteps / steps_per_mm.Max tightening torque on the extruder screws is 0.3 Nm.Holes on the bottom of the LGX™ : 12 mm depth.Holes on the sides of the LGX™ : 5 mm depth.Mounting patterns : bottom anterior (2 points) left (2 points), right (2 points), front (4 points), back (4 points).Materials compatibility : abrasive rigid semi-flexible flexible and soft.e-steps value : 400 using 16 microsteps 800 using 32 microsteps.Allows mounting in many different ways.Enables to print flexible and soft materials faster.Gives access to all available materials. In case you have an application where additional cooling is required, try using a 4020 fan or 2 LGX heat sinks, one on each side. Our tests suggest a 4010 fan is enough to cool down the cold block and the cold zone of the heat break, even with such small contact surface to the heat sink. The heat sink also includes the hole pattern for attaching 40×40 fans. The LGX™ For Flexibles Set includes a reversible heat sink that can be installed on the left or right hand side of the cold block. All items in the LGX extruder and the LGX for flexibles set are included. The LGX™ FF Print Head is a special unit that includes the LGX™ Large Gears eXtruder and the LGX™ FF short filament path hotend based on Copperhead, that will master all materials and excel with the soft and flexible. Master All Materials * Excel With Flexibles I maintain my concerns about the custom motor, but for now I’m back to being a happy customer.Free shipping in Canada for orders over $140 before tax. It was overnighted, which could not have been cheap. I woke up to an email apologizing for the experience I’ve had and confirming my address for the replacement motor, which they’re sending for free!Įdit 4/9: I received the replacement motor today. The worst part is it's taken 5-7 days between responses and when they do respond, it's primarily to deflect.Įdit 4/6: I’m not sure what happened but their entire tone changed today. I've had great experiences in the past from a QA and support perspective, so this new experience is very off-putting. This entire thing has me rethinking my stance on Bondtech. I basically have 2.5 extruders right now. The end result is if something goes wrong with your LGX motor, you may have difficulty sourcing a replacement. They don't directly sell this custom motor (yet) nor do they sell anything to allow you to use your own motor. I am 100% certain this is not the case, but even if it was, they've not even given me an opportunity to purchase a new motor. ![]() At this point I'd normally have just shrugged and installed one of my spare steppers, but I was very dismayed to learn Bondtech went custom in a way that makes sourcing a replacement impossible without their help.īondtech is asserting that I must have overdriven my motor and burned out the coils. The reason I'm posting this PSA is because the LGX has a custom LDO motor with a custom stem and gear you cannot simply swap out. The first LGX extruder I received has a defective motor, and three weeks later Bondtech is still giving me a hard time getting a replacement. I own several genuine BMG and BMG-M extruders and currently have three LGX extruders as well. I am normally a very, very happy customer of Bondtech.
